With such a mellow winter season, it feels as though our physical surroundings have enabled the “real world” to keep up with the blur of development online in music and technology in general, for 2012. Only two months into the year, the homies Fameless and Andrew Roti teamed up on Wet Winter – a mix tape of rap music in it’s current state (however long that may last).
From local noise makers (Drake, Zodiak) to upcoming rap stars (Kirko Bangz, A$AP Ant), and some DK affiliates (Rittz, Fameless), this is a good listen to get you through another fast week, and very much in the pulse of rap music right now. Good work boys.
Last month we gave you Volume One, and this month it’s Volume Two of Justunlimited’s Beats From The Basement beat tape series. Definitely take this in on a Need 2 Kno Basis. The producer hasn’t performed at a Droppin Knowledge, but maybe a beat showcase is in the DK future… for now, take in another set of killer beats.

Toronto’s own Rich Kidd reminisces on growing up in the Dot on his latest solo cut ‘Back in the Day’, check it out below. Look for the Kidd to have a big year – he has recently been working in the studio with members of Top Dawg Ent. and Jay Electronica.
Slumerican comrades Rittz and Yelawolf link up for the first set of visuals from Rittz’s upcoming project White Jesus: Revival.
Look for that to drop on March 8th.
Last week marked the anniversary of the birth and the death of the late great James Yancey.
And in the six years since we lost J Dilla, the hip hop community has never wavered in its dedication to commemorating his life.
In his latest release, our brother Junia T has paid true homage to the Legend! Junz goes in…spitting out positive bars and reminding us what its all about; the music!!!!
Heavy props.
Take it in.
Phonte may not be a DK Alumnist yet…but we will always show love for the Southern Gentleman who sat down with us last September during the Manifesto festival.
Phonte dropped his video for “The Good Fight” earlier today, reminding us all why he is the most genuine blue collar rapper out-there.
DK Alumnist Action Bronson’S video w/ RiFF RaFF has been blowing up the internet for the past couple days. Partially because the collab is so random but we’d like to think it’s mostly because this track is FIRE.
CHECK.
The good homie Spek Won comes at us with a very, very dope visual for his new joint Pulp Fiktion.
Shot by Yannik Anton and edited by Spek himself, I got to see this one come together a little early, and have been anticipating sharing it for some time now. Congrats on this one dog, big moves.
Peter Marrack came along for the ride to Ottawa this past weekend while Fashawn was in town, and put his pen to use last night retelling some of the madness that ensued on his blog TheMarrack.com

While the link above will clear up any foggy memories I might have from this past weekend, down below Peter also published a more official, yet still very dope interview with Fash on Respect-Mag.Com
Thanks to both publications for all these kind words, as well as our homegirl Loni for supplying the great accompanying visuals.
Its been a good week for our pal D-SISIVE.
Hot off the heels of his JUNO nomination, he’s unleashed the video for “Invisible Man” from his latest release Run With The Creeps.
The homie D’s got a lot of celebrating to do this weekend!
